So, I know debt collectors are allowed to reach out to immediate family in order to possibly get in touch with me. That part isn't the issue (although it should be haha)

A debt collector sent a text to my brother containing a link with a code. The website it takes you to asks for the code (they provided it in the message) plus the zip code. My question would be, isn't that illegal? The link directly shows how much I owe to the particular company.

And I did verify legitimacy of the message prior to seeking anymore advice, no scams here!

Granted, they'd need to know my zip code... But everyone in the family knows my zip code.
