The DHS Inspector General released a report that said there were numerous problems in a single detention facility. Not only that but what was contained in the report was incomplete because the inspectors were both unwilling and unable to dig deep into the issues. ICE officers and officials were far from compliant and inspectors made it worse by questioning detainees about conditions in public areas often containing… you guessed it: ICE officers. They’re certainly not any better now. Detentions are way up and this iteration of immigration enforcement officials cares even less about the rights and well-being of detained migrants than those employed during Trump 1.0. Not for nothing, but there’s a very obvious reason DHS is doing everything it can to prevent congressional members from inspecting detention centers. We know what it is.…
