Last week, American sculptor Alexander Calder became the latest creative legend to receive a sprawling retrospective at the Fondation Louis Vuitton , in Paris. On May 22, Oger – Blanchet auction house will commemorate the occasion by offering a never-before-seen Calder mobile in its “ Modern Collections ” live auction at Hôtel Drouot . There, the newfound Stabile-mobile (1974) stands to sell for €80,000 to €120,000 ($94,000 to $141,00). Calder created this five-and-a-half inch tall metallic mobile just two years before his death in 1976—and 43 years after making his first mechanized mobile.
