As neighbors of a proposed data center in northwest Colorado Springs will learn this evening at a community meeting on the project, it poses none of the problems foreseen by some residents and resolves all of their reasonable concerns. Project Taurus — planned at the decades-old, former Intel chip plant at Garden of the Gods Road and Centennial Boulevard — will go largely unnoticed by surrounding neighborhoods. It also will serve as a myth buster for similar projects around the state, dispelling fears about noise as well as water and power use at data centers in general. During an in-depth briefing last week with The Gazette’s editorial board, project point man Jason Green cleared up key misunderstandings surrounding data centers. He described in detail how well the facilities, in fact, blend into neighboring land uses without disrupting lives or drawing down resources.
