Not because I don’t understand it, but because I understand it too well. Jesus was crucified. Not just killed, but humiliated, tortured and publicly broken. Crucifixion wasn’t an ordinary death. It was designed to strip a person of dignity before it took their life. It was slow. It was brutal. It was meant to make an example out of someone. It’s also important to acknowledge that not everyone holds the same view of this moment. Some traditions understand this story differently, including whether the crucifixion happened in the way it’s often described. I want to approach this with respect.
