Hi everyone, I am looking for a reality check on a negotiation I just attempted. I’m an early career engineer and currently juggling two very different offers: Offer A (The Summer program): A 3 month Devops contract at a well known big AI company. It pays exceptionally well. However, there is no guarantee of a permanent role after the 3 months. I also already successfully negotiated pushing the start date back a month so I could finish up my current job, meaning I'd be starting in July. I am a big believer of this company's vision and it really aligns well with what I want to do in the future. They when giving me the offer reiterated that they are looking for someone to hire, and they would really look forward to hiring me (if I do well) after the program. Offer B (The Safety Net): An 18 month Platform Engineer early careers program at a big tech company. The pay is significantly lower initially, about 2k less than the first offer per month.
