Rock varnish (I believe) Credit: Viktor Posnov on Google Maps

Sharing something I just learned, as someone who doesn't know a ton about geology. Was scrolling around on Google Maps and found this striking photo from Auyuittuq National Park in Nunavut, Canada. I had no idea what I was looking at! Thanks to previous reddit posts on this page, I learned that this is probably rock varnish, which is oxidized manganese. So cool! Super striking appearance.
