Jalen Duren made $6.68 million this season in the final year of the rookie contract he signed after the Pistons took him with the No. 13 pick in the 2022 NBA draft. He immediately made an impact averaging 9.1 points and 8.9 assists in 24.9 minutes a game as a rookie. After two more solid seasons Duren made a leap this year, averaging 19.5 points and 10.5 rebounds and was named an All-Star as the Pistons won 60 games and earned the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. In a first round series the Pistons nearly lost against the Magic, Duren averaged just 10.6 points per game, but still got his usual rebounds, assists, blocks and steals and in Game 7 he had 15 and 15. In the current series against the Cavaliers he continued to regress. He averaged just 9.5 points and 11 rebounds as the Pistons took Game 1 and 2, but stopped rebounding as Detroit dropped the next three games. Things hit rock bottom on Wednesday night as he was benched for the entire fourth quarter and overtime despite only having two fouls.…
