I’m considering a course based on Random Walks on Reductive Groups by Y. Benoist and J.-F. Quint. I don’t know all the prerequisites yet, but I’m willing to learn them along the way.

My question is simple. Does this actually connect to machine learning or theoretical computer science in any meaningful way? From what I can tell, it is very pure math-heavy, focused on probability on groups and homogeneous spaces. I don’t see a direct link to standard ML or typical TCS topics.
