Mixtape , a new video game out today, tells a classic teen-movie coming-of-age story, following three kids who are trying to make it to a mythic party on their last day of school, avoiding getting caught along the way. It's the latest game from Beethoven & Dinosaur, the Melbourne studio previously responsible for the music-themed platform game The Artful Escape . And as the title implies, music is pretty central to Mixtape , too. According to The New York Times , Mixtape is a small, focused, evocative game that you can play in just three hours. The game seems to take place in the '90s, and lead character Stacey Rockford has dreams of becoming a music supervisor in New York. (Join the club! I would dearly love to become one of the people who picks music for movies and TV shows, even though I have been assured that the job is a lot more complicated than that.) From what I can tell, Mixtape doesn't get into the music business, but the music supervising on this game has to be really good.…
