How I water the skylight planter Hey, because I got so many questions about this, I thought I'd show how it works. (And more than a few people thought I had a gaping hole in the roof😂) Each of the 4 sides is a separate planter, made of a section of regular rain gutter, with end caps on, filled with soil. They're hung on normal gutter brackets, with the tops cut off so they don't "clip" into place, which makes it easier to take them down. The bathroom has a pretty low ceiling so it's easy to reach, for me anyway, and takes about 2 minutes to take them down and put them back. We had a rare clear sunny day in Ireland today, so I took them down and sat them in the shower and gave them a drink. The bathroom is a wet room, so the floor section in the shower gently slopes to the long silver drain in the corner, it doesn't matter if the floor gets wet at all. I've never tried this kinda thing before, so we'll see how it goes. Hopefully by the end of the summer they'll be thriving.…
