Along with the release of Opus 4.7, Anthropic shipped a redesigned Claude Code desktop app. The previous app was already solid, but it had a few important downsides that were fixed in the new release.

In this article, I want to quickly review the good and bad things (yes, the redesigned app has its downsides) about the new Claude Code for desktop.

Good

New Claude Code usage stats

Anthropic added stats in a few areas of the product.

First, when you open the app, you will see your usage history with the number of sessions, messages, tokens used, and activity during the last 7 days. This offers a nice at-a-glance summary of your activity.

Second, which I find even more important, is a nice contextual control at the bottom right corner of the prompt input field that shows your context and plan usage limits.
