Pennzoil left the DEI and the 1 went part-time, Citgo left Roush and the 99 was blank most weeks, we lost the BelCar 54, we pretty much lost the Ultra 7 and the Morgan-McClure 4 was blank most of the time. We had some "field fillers" like Hillenburg and Shepherd and Belmont and the first start-and-parks were happening. Why did all this happen during the height of NASCAR's popularity and why only in 2004? Roush wound up finding something for the 99 car the next year, and Pennzoil eventually came back as a full-time sponsor.
