The final score in Air Academy’s playoff opener gives the appearance of a cakewalk victory. Afterall, a 16-4 second round win in the 4A boys’ lacrosse tournament certainly sounds like a breeze. However, the full context of the Kadets’ victory Friday at home illustrated why they’re the top dogs in this year’s playoffs. “We’ve been in an interesting time for the past couple of weeks because we’ve had fewer games,” Kadet coach Nick Gold said. “We did a lot of stuff in the weight room and did a lot of stretching to keep our hands fresh. Even if we couldn’t be out on the field, we were good to go.” Since April 15, while other teams had six or seven games, the Kadets played just four, including a 13-9 loss to 5A’s Legend in the regular-season finale to end Air Academy’s 14-game winning streak. Then, the No. 1-seeded Kadets (15-1) not only had a first-round bye that kept them off the field, but they practiced indoors for part of the week due to inclement weather.…
