I keep seeing well-intentioned posts trying to reassure people that nobody really knows what they are doing and that nobody gets anything perfect. But… I’m just not convinced. Because that’s not how people have reacted to me throughout my life. Countless times people have gotten mad at me and frustrated because I didn’t know how to do something that “everyone else does.” If everyone else didn’t already just know how to do those things, then why are they getting mad at me? When I was little adults would get upset at me for things like being the only kid who didn’t know how to tie their shoes yet. My family gets mad at me for being the only person who can’t always understand what they mean when they give instructions. Healthcare workers get annoyed at me for being the only person who can’t remember specific dates previous appointments were on, or the names of my medications.…
