Fellini Wednesdays! - Week 11 - I Clowns Last week enough people said they appreciated these that I am still going! Not expecting many to have seen this, however lol. It is hard to find! There was a blu-ray a number of years ago, but it seems long out of print, and Criterion could not secure the rights for their boxset which signals a rights issue. It's hard to own this, hard to stream it, and, if you do find it, hard to watch it in any level of quality. Anyway, on to the film: In-between *Satyricon* and *Roma*, Fellini partnered with RAI (an Italian TV station) to make a docufiction about clowns and the artform clowning. It has proper fiction, interviews, performances, historical documentation, and more. It features a lengthy funeral segment at the end of the film that begins as a celebration of clowning, but ends as a true mourning of the art form. The film does end by saying that the art is dead and never going to return to its once-glory.…
