But after about 30 minutes, something changes. My back starts to feel stiff. A little itchy. Tight. By the time I try to stand up, I can barely stand straight. “What is wrong with my back?” I wondered. Finally, I realized my body was telling me the truth: “It’s not just your back; it’s the fact that you aren’t moving.” I tried to fix it by taking five-minute walking breaks. I’d walk, come back, and within 30 minutes, the pain returned. I tried lying down, but my workload wouldn’t allow it. I found myself forcing my body to work through the discomfort, even working on my laptop in a prone position to try to get comfortable. It only made my upper back ache more.…
