Jussi Vatanen , who led the cast in “Fallen Leaves,” and Seidi Haarla , the star of “Compartment No. 6,” will topline in Finnish satire “Arrogance.” The film is the story of Ossi (Vatanen), who chooses to be unemployed on ideological ground. He meets Kaisa (Haarla), who doesn’t judge him and they share a passion for literature. The happiness ends when Kaisa gets an internship in Paris, but Ossi can’t join her because he is forced to attend an absurd and demeaning course for the long-time unemployed. For fear of losing Kaisa, he decides to write a book about himself and his lifestyle. The film, which was developed in the Torino Script Lab in 2022, is based on Ossi Nyman’s novel “Röyhkeys” (“Arrogance”), published in 2017. It’s a provocative and darkly humorous story about a man who deliberately chooses to live on social welfare without any intention of working.
