I am a triplet, and in our first year of college, my brother was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. He managed to make it more than 4 and a half years before passing. It is definitely impactful on my life, and it is a major talking point in my personal statement. That being said, should I talk about it more here and how it impacted my undergrad experience? Throughout undergrad, I didn't score as well as I could've, nor did I have the time for extracurriculars. My brother would get very upset with me if I discussed taking a break from school, but I did let it slip nonetheless between every last 3-month prognoses. I studied mostly beside a hospital bed, or through many sleepless nights following the end of visiting hours. I chose to spend time with him instead of doing research or being a part of the student council. Is this something I should discuss here? It impacted my undergrad significantly, and after his passing, I decided to enroll in a post-bach smp where I did much, much better over the last year.…
