Published 9:44 am Thursday, April 30, 2026 A truck driver from India who was charged with manslaughter after a fatal crash in Deschutes County posted bail and was arrested by U.S. immigration officers. Rajinder Kumar, 32, is being held at the Northwest ICE Processing Center in Tacoma and is facing deportation, according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security . Kumar was charged with two counts of manslaughter and three counts of recklessly endangering another person in Deschutes County Circuit Court after two separate incidents on Highway 20 on Nov. 24. His trial is set for January. Kumar posted bail April 2 and was released from Deschutes County Jail. According to Kumar’s release order, he was not allowed to leave Oregon without written permission from the court. A case manager received a tampering notification for Kumar’s electronic GPS monitoring April 22 and wrote in a report that it was unclear if it was still attached.…
