15s threshold

I had an interview yesterday for a lawyer position at a firm. I’ve practiced law for 17 years and am licensed in 3 states. I have worked really hard and I think my resume and interviewing skills speak for themselves. I’m proud of me anyway. The question: did you pass the bar on the first time? I answered no, I didn’t and explained that I passed the 2nd (in the state I originally failed) and 3rd (in another state). I explained that I realized after the fail that I needed to readjust my strategy and learn how to play the examiner’s games. I managed to do so and I’m a lawyer. I was a little put off by the question. Not because I failed but because my life’s work shouldn’t be reduced to a 2 day test I took in 2008. The bar exam doesn’t test your knowledge, your lawyer skills…it tests to see if you can figure out the bar exam algorithm. If I had practiced law for less than 2 years or it was my first job, sure, I’d expect the question. submitted by /u/indypendenthere [link] [comments]
