But do vices really steer us through wickedness? Some call it a vice and some call it a guilty-pleasure, whichever name you use, it serves the same purpose: Lessen the burden of everyday life by doing an activity that is considered “harmful” in society’s eyes. It could be smoking, doing drugs, or simply drinking 5 cups of coffee in one day. I would argue that we all need a vice, to lift the burden of everyday life. To balance the overwhelming demands of life, to help us cope with the struggles that feel too heavy to bear without a release. In a way, vices offer a temporary escape, a fleeting moment of relief in a world where the pressures of work, relationships, and personal expectations often seem insurmountable.…
