‘A milestone for our community’: PWHL announces expansion to Las Vegas

Women’s hockey is officially coming to Las Vegas. The Professional Women’s Hockey League announced on Wednesday that an expansion team will begin play in Las Vegas starting next season. The team, whose name will be announced at a later date, will play its home games at T-Mobile Arena, sharing residence with the Vegas Golden Knights . In addition to Las Vegas, the PWHL will also be expanding to Hamilton, Ontario. Las Vegas and Hamilton will join Detroit as new teams next season, giving the league 11 teams. There will be a press conference in Las Vegas at 1 p.m. on Wednesday. “The arrival of the PWHL in Vegas is a milestone for women’s hockey and our entire community,” said Knights president John Penhollow. “We’re proud of how far youth hockey has come locally, and even more excited about the path forward and opportunities ahead for future generations with the PWHL’s arrival in Las Vegas.” Expansion draft details will be announced at a later time.…
