Let me remind voters about Jamie Collins, the other candidate for Position 1, who has spent 22 years living the integrity and values that Mr. Tash only imagines that DeBone exhibits. Jamie Collins is a decorated U.S. Coast Guard veteran who, after leaving active duty in 2009, has continued to serve our county and community as a Reservist — putting on his uniform at least one weekend a month for the past 17 years. Jamie, whose family’s ties to rural Oregon date back to 1934, has responded to more than 350 emergencies and natural disasters in his career: wildfires, oil spills, train derailments, earthquakes and hurricanes. The State of Oregon recruited him to Deschutes County specifically to help us prepare for and respond to disasters here.…
