Paramount Pictures announced on Wednesday that  Heart of the Beast , its new action adventure film directed by David Ayer and starring Brad Pitt , J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe, will release in theaters on September 25. The film will open against  Forgotten Island , a DreamWorks title starring Dave Franco and Jenny Slate, and a re-release of Marvel’s  Avengers: Endgame . Written by Cameron Alexander,  Heart of the Beast  follows a former Army Special Forces Soldier and his retired combat dog who battle for survival after a plane crash deep in the unforgiving Alaskan wilderness. The project reunites Pitt and Ayer for the first time since  Fury , their 2014 WWII drama for Sony, and comes following Pitt’s starring role in the Oscar-nominated Apple flick  F1 .
