Ardith Helen Winters February 4, 1934 – April 3, 2026 Ardie was born in Rochester, Minnesota, to parents Henry and Evelyn Winters. Early in her life, Ardie and her sister Mariylin were adopted and raised by her aunt and uncle, Agnes and Richard Clark. Growing up, Ardie and her family lived in Montana, Texas, Hawaii, and Colorado. In 1956, Ardie graduated from the University of Colorado with a BS in nursing. While working as a nurse in Aspen, Ardie met her husband, George Arnis, while he was a ski patroller. Once wed, Ardie and George moved to Cottage Grove and later Eugene, Oregon and raised four sons; Nicholas, Michael, Christopher, and Matthew, teaching them all to become excellent skiers. Ardie was a working mother, serving as a public health nurse in Lane County before returning to school and earning a Master’s degree in labor relations in 1983. As her sons grew older, Ardie worked in California conducting health assessments on Native American reservations.…
