Sports Car Market publisher Keith Martin knows a thing or two about collector cars, and when he acquired this Desert Beige 911S in 2022, he wasn't chasing the usual manual-transmission example. The Sportomatic three-speed semi-automatic represents Porsche's quirky attempt at a clutchless transmission before proper automatics arrived. You still shift yourself, but without the third pedal. Martin rebuilt the 2.7-liter flat-six in 2025, adding a Carrera oil-fed chain tensioner and Elephant Racing oil cooler while keeping the period-correct Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection intact. The refinished 15-inch Fuchs alloy wheels wear Vredestein Sprint Classic rubber, and recent maintenance includes fresh brake fluid, new sway bar bushings, and a replaced master cylinder.…
