Hi! So I used to struggle with self-harm in the past and now I have some (while very light) obvious scars on my arms and thighs. This summer I’m going to a music festival and had a really fun outfit planned but if I want to wear it, it’s essentially showing all of my scars. I’m going with my mother (who doesn’t know about my scars). I’ve been hiding them well and the only person who has seen my scars is my sister-in-law (basically my best friend). She was the only person I knew wouldn’t go crazy about it and just accept it - and she did. We don’t talk about it anymore when just the two of us go out and I wear short sleeves. That’s nice. Though I weirdly feel naked and get judgemental looks from older women and teenage boys around me whenever I don’t wear long sleeves, It’s still nice to just try to exist with my scars out. So - for going out with literally anyone else, which I often do, how should I cover my scars?…
