Mets calling up Vidal Brujan after brutal Ronny Mauricio injury

The Mets have summoned a veteran utilityman to the West Coast after their latest injury headache. Vidal Brujan is being called up from Triple-A Syracuse, The Post’s Mike Puma reported Sunday morning, after replacement shortstop Ronny Mauricio suffered a thumb fracture Saturday night, which will land him on the injured list. Mauricio had been filling in for Francisco Lindor, who’s on the IL with a calf injury. The Mets are calling up Vidal Brujan from Triple-A Syracuse. Getty Images Bo Bichette, the former shortstop whom the Mets signed to play third base for them this year, finished Saturday’s game at short. Brujan, 28, is hitting .241 in 24 games for Syracuse while splitting time at shortstop, second base and third base. Thirteen of his 24 starts have come at short.
