A body has been recovered from a West Coast river after a tractor was discovered overturned this morning. 

In a statement, police said a body had been found in the Otututu/Rough River, near Ikamatua. 

The body was found downstream of an overturned tractor, which was discovered at about 10.45 this morning. 

They were believed to be the sole occupant of the tractor. 

Police have asked the public to avoid the area while emergency services are at the scene.
