The Fountain Police Department has recovered a body from the Willow Springs Ponds, according to police.

The body was discovered by a local fisherman just before 7 p.m. Wednesday, the Police Department said in a Thursday news release.

“The circumstances surrounding the death remain under investigation,” said department spokesperson Lisa Schneider.

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the individual at a later day.

Schneider said authorities are investigating the death.

The Willow Springs Ponds are south of Mesa Ridge Parkway.
