Hello, today I want to share my experience with an issue I had my Chromecast for the last couple of years. We use it to watch TV and streams, but for years it was randomly restarting during playback. Contacting Google support was not helpful at all. The issue clearly seemed related to overheating, and during the last few days the device became almost unusable, restarting after only 5 minutes of use no matter what I tried. Today I finally opened it by removing the plastic cover, and honestly what I found was even more disappointing. Inside, there was a thermal compound between the inner metal plate and the plastic cover, more like old chewing gum than proper thermal paste. To me, this feels like a very cheap and ineffective cooling solution and, honestly, a sign of poor engineering. Google... seriously? Is this the level of quality a $4.6 trillion company delivers to paying customers?…
