Im British and moved to South America 6 months agos alone, after a really really tramatic divorce. That was the main reason that pushed me to apply for the visa although whilst in my relationship i had already spent three months in SA the year pior, and visited every year the past 4 years. I have one close friend here who also moved from UK 4 years ago (for a relationship). Im not crippled with homesickness but it does get really hard - a close friends birthday just happened. I have one close friends here and some others who i wouldnt say 'know' me - none of those friendships compare to my community in UK. They are essentially my choosen family and I was central to the group. My ex and i were the couple that bought everyone together - infact mostly me. Alot of them actually came to visit the first 2 months i moved to see me off kinda thing. They made a gofund me to help the transition. I know im geuniely loved by these people like biological family.…
