You’ve probably seen Gemini pop up on Galaxy phones, Samsung watches, and even cars. The kitchen is next. Samsung has pushed a software update to select Bespoke AI Refrigerator Family Hub models in the US, and it brings Gemini-powered food recognition to the fridge’s built-in camera system for the first time. The update started rolling out May 11 for Samsung Bespoke AI refrigerator models with 32-inch displays. According to Samsung, the fridge can now identify a much wider range of groceries than before. That includes branded packaged goods, which it reads using optical character recognition on product labels. It also learns which items you go through regularly and sends restocking alerts through the SmartThings app. Owners of 9-inch display models will get the update later this year. A smarter Bixby, too Bixby gets an overhaul in the same update. Instead of rigid voice commands, it now handles more natural back-and-forth conversations.
