Published 7:24 am Tuesday, April 28, 2026 The city of Bend has joined other larger cities in opposing a new proposed rule from the federal government that may kick families with mixed-immigration status out of housing. The Department of Housing and Urban Development’s proposed rule would basically limit day housing assistance to 30 days for families with mixed-immigration status. Mixed immigration status means some family members are U.S. citizens or otherwise eligible and some are not.
