I knew a real estate agent who, if he found out that a home his client was interested in might go on the market soon, would find out the homeowners' information (potentially before they got their own agent) and text them directly to try to find his clients an "in." Is this normal? It sounds weird and invasive but maybe they all do it and I've just never heard about it before?
