Dear Prudence, I’m close to my family, who’ve all been going through major (but positive) life upheavals. In the past three years, there’s been two weddings, the first baby born among my siblings, two house moves, one parent’s retirement, and the other parent’s major milestone birthday. All of these things have included celebratory dinners, bridal party festivities, housewarmings, baby showers, etc. But there’s something keeping me from enjoying them fully. In my own life, I’ve been dealing with some hurdles. Namely, a health scare and the rough end of a long-term relationship.…
