Not a handy guy but trying to learn. I installed a closet rod into a closet that was working well. This is an old house, and the previous occupants had put up wood supports horizontally on the closet walls on either end of where the rod is installed, and one vertical from the center going up to the top of the closet. I used that vertical center rod to install the top half of a support bracket, but after a while the rod has pulled that center piece of support wood from the wall. Is the best way to solve this problem reinstalling that support wood tight to the wall again? Or replace it entirely with another support? Or is there a glaring answer in front of me? I'd really like to be able to learn this one!
