When Matthew Fisher and his husband, Casey, set out to purchase a weekend home in the Hudson Valley in 2022, opportunity came quickly knocking. Matthew—whose buzzy New York–based studio M.Fisher specializes in classically informed art objects and commissions—received a text message that lighting company Apparatus cofounders Gabriel Hendifar and Jeremy Anderson were listing their Rhinebeck, New York , home. The property, which included an 1829 farmhouse and a sleek, gabled extension on almost three acres, thrilled the Fishers. “It was a little garden oasis but close to [Rhinebeck village], and it combined an upstate aesthetic with the modernity that we like,” says Casey, a third-generation real estate developer. A sculptural steel fireplace bridges the living and dining spaces. Its wrought-iron tools, designed by Raymond Subes and sourced from Galerie Matthieu Richard , date to 1948.…
