The Discipline of the Opening Aperture Capital is a Chicago-based private equity firm investing in mid-market American industrial businesses, including precision manufacturers, specialty chemical producers, and components shops with $20M to $100M EBITDA. The firm is built on a contrarian thesis in the category: hold companies for decades, use leverage conservatively, and keep the operators in place. At Numinous Agency, we build brand systems for B2B companies that need to communicate seriousness and longevity, and that is what we did with Aperture. The work spans positioning, logo and mark design, typographic system, color palette, voice and tagline development, business stationery, presentation templates, environmental signage, and a publication system for annual letters and quarterly briefings. The identity is anchored by a mark that encodes the firm's central conviction. Half striated and half solid, the mark reads as both an aperture and a thesis about how the firm sees the world.
