Determination and teamwork has helped the Queens Park women’s golf team to victory in the Southland round of the national teams’ event. Team members Kate McGregor, Julie Fleury, Linda Suddaby and Janet Mauheni won the Golf Southland title earlier this month at the Winton Golf Club. Twelve clubs from throughout the region entered the tournament. The teams were divided into pairs and teed off against the pair of another club. Queens Park captain Linda Suddaby said her team played against Waikaka, who usually either won the tournament or finished runner-up. The team was not overawed by the Waikaka club’s past performance in the tournament. "The funny thing is we went out on the course and I just said to that lady I was playing with, ‘if we do nothing else today, we are going to beat these girls’."
