Thought on my investing plan

15s threshold

I’m 25 and making about 85k. Im currently putting 12% of my pretax compensation into a company provided ROTH. I also get a 4% match on that. I’m getting married next year and my fiancé makes about double what I make. I forget the exact percentages she’s putting into her accounts but it is a pretty decent amount as well. So my question is before next year would it make more sense to change my future contributions to my 401k. For me to put the same amount into my 401k as I’m putting into my ROTH right now I would be at about 17% with no change to my take home pay. Totaling about 21% pretax contributions. Or potentially diversifying into personal investment accounts.

I’m mostly wondering this because thinking into the future it seems very unlikely that we’d need almost 300k a year in retirement. 21% in contributions seems somewhat high but I’ve also always been in the mindset of front loading my account and then I can take my foot off the gas in the future if needed.

Thanks
