Now we’re moving north of the ship canal to share a fresh set of recommendations led by a buzzy tapas fusion restaurant. In Fremont, Balandra Tapas is generating buzz along Stone Way North with its fusion menu, including a Korean-Mexican dish starring lamb with a gochujang mole sauce. Balandra is one of the few new restaurants in this roundup that’s open daily. At the northern edge of Greenwood, the Venezuelan cafe Waca Maya features empanadas, arepas, corn cakes, plantains, savory pastelitos and other South American noshes.
