It’s the first Monday in May, which of course can only mean one thing: the Met Gala is here. The 2026 extravaganza kicked off Monday evening on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, this year celebrating the Costume Institute’s new exhibition “Costume Art.” Per the museum, “Costume Art” “examines the centrality of the dressed body throughout time and culture, juxtaposing garments and works of art from across the museum’s vast collection to create pairings that highlight the indivisible connection between clothing and the body.” So what all does that mean for fashion?
