What to Pack for Europe I need to issue a blanket apology to all of Europe: I’m sorry for the way I dressed the first time I traveled around your stunning, stylish continent. Looking back at the photos, I spent 90 consecutive days committing fashion crimes in 11 different countries. While I was perfectly capable of navigating foreign places where I didn’t speak the language—this was before I had a smartphone—I clearly didn’t have a clue how to pack.  After many trips to Europe later and a decade-long career as a travel writer under my belt, I now consider myself a packing pro. I now know what to wear in Paris to pass as a local, how to stay cool in Greece during a heat wave, and which comfy sandals to wear in order to avoid blisters and unsightly tan lines.
