Summer is coming and I am already sweating in my Cumulus Panyam rated for -6C (20F), so I need something for warm nights but as a student I can't break the bank. Further constraints are: it has to be lighter (than the current 1001g) and smaller in packsize. I've read any post I could find on here and r/myog where people said synthetic works better than down with moisture. 1. Does my sweat and the humidity (mostly trips in and around the Alps) in any way diminish the insulation of a down quilt, which would mean I should opt for synthetic? In 2 years with my sleeping bag that's never been an issue. The cheapest reasonable down quilt I could find was the Aegis Air-E, rated for +11C (50F) at around 110€ weighing 567g with 800FP down. Compression with 10D nylon should be around half the current 20L my sleepingbag needs. 2. Is there a quilt comparably priced with synthetic fabrics used?…
