Hungary’s famous dancing politician stole the show once again on Saturday, 9 May, with an impromptu performance of his viral dance on the steps of parliament after Peter Magyar was sworn in as the country’s new prime minister.

Zsolt Hegedus, the next health minister in Hungary’s new government, first went viral after enthusiastically dancing on stage during the opposition Tisza party’s election victory celebrations on 12 April, marking the end of Viktor Orban’s long rule.

On Saturday, Hegedus recreated the dance outside parliament, complete with air guitar moves in front of crowd who had come to see the inauguration projected live on big screens.

Tens of thousands attended the swearing-in ceremony for centre-right leader Peter Magyar, who swept to power on promises of change after years of economic stagnation and strained ties with key allies under his predecessor Viktor Orban.
