The defending AFC West champion Broncos will open the season on Monday Night Football against the team that won the division the previous nine times. That, of course, is the Kansas City Chiefs. The NFL announced Tuesday morning the Broncos and Chiefs will play on ESPN at 6:15 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14. It has not been announced yet whether the game will be in Denver or Kansas City. While the Broncos went 14-3 last season before losing in the AFC Championship Game 10-7 to New England, the injury-riddled Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2014. Both teams lost their starting quarterbacks late in the season. Denver’s Bo Nix suffered a broken right ankle in a Jan. 17 divisional playoff win over Buffalo but is expected to be fully healthy by the start of training camp. Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes suffered a torn ACL Dec. 14 against the Los Angeles Chargers, and there is optimism he will be ready for the 2026 opener.…
