Warning: This post mentions child abuse and sexual harassment. Every generation thinks the next one is soft, and every generation thinks the previous one was bonkers. So we asked members of the BuzzFeed Community who went to school in the '60s, '70s, and '80s to share what their school experiences were actually like. From smoking lounges and rifles in the parking lot to mercury rolling around the classroom floor, here are 33 school experiences from older generations: 1. "First grade, late '70s. There was a kid in class who was the 'class clown' — always acting up, talking too much, etc. Occasionally, once a month or so, the teacher would put a piece of masking tape across his mouth to keep him quiet. No one ever complained or reported it to the faculty or the kids' parents." 2. "In 1969, my brother was in the third grade.
