Beginner cyclist here. Still solo riding, not done a group ride yet so I have no idea how that works. The following happened when I was driving a car. Note: When I take over cyclists I always completely change the lane like I would taking over another car. There was a large group of cyclists gathering on the side of a crossroad. They weren't blocking the road I was driving on but I still changed the lane because cyclists - and they started to cycle (they weren't even complete, there were still people arriving) while I was doing that. When changing lane, I had no idea that they were about to start and I had also no clue that they wanted to drive in the same direction. They were also riding pretty fast, it was a zone 50 km/h so I couldn't speed to take them over. I had to stay on the opposite lane - luckily nobody came our way, it would've been an interesting situation.
